Hi All! My name is Omar Benallal. I'm a junior double majoring in Chemistry and History, with a minor in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. I am also a member of the Muslim Students Association, Duke Arab Students Association, Duke Amnesty International, Students for Justice in Palestine, Injaz, Duke Association for the Middle East, Mi Gente, and the American Alliance for Education. In addition to SAGE, I work as a peer tutor and a translator for World Relief Durham. On my free time, I like to run, read, watch movies, hike, and do fun Chemistry. I LOVE Chemistry and I can't wait to work with you all on Chemistry through SAGE!

Hi. My name is Jason, and I’m a third-year pre-med who is majoring in Spanish. I’m also in the Cardea Fellows Program, so if you’re pre-med, maybe you’re in the program too, or maybe you know other Cardea Fellows. I’m from Raleigh (so far, I know), so outside of school, I enjoy hanging out with my friends from UNC and NC State. I also like to travel too! (Check out this pic of me next to an alpaca in Perú!)

Hi, my name is Kyla Brezitski and I am a junior here at Duke! I am from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and am majoring in Chemistry and Evolutionary Anthropology with a minor in Biology. At Duke, I am on the cheerleading team, a hospital volunteer, a Small Group Leader in the Duke Catholic Center, and am involved in research in the Cardiology Department! Outside of school I love to read, take walks in the gardens, and spend quality time with friends.

My name is Austin Camp, and I am from Verona, NJ. I am currently a junior studying chemistry and evolutionary anthropology while also on the pre-med track. I am involved with Duke ASPIRE, Rotary Club, and SPIRE Fellows. Outside of school, I enjoy going to the beach, hiking, running, and attending the Duke basketball games (and tenting!).

Temi Adekunle

Hi! My name is Temi Adekunle, and I am from Atlanta, Georgia. I am currently a junior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Chemistry on the pre-med track. I'm pursuing a degree in psychology because I enjoy learning about mental health and social psychology and how that affects patient-physician interactions. On campus, I work in the Duke ID Lab, a social psychology research lab that focuses on diversity and differing identities, I volunteer with FEMMES, and I am an executive member of the Minority Association of Pre-medical students. These activities keep me pretty busy throughout much of the week, but in my free time, I also love watching Marvel movies and The Office, hanging out with friends, journaling, and discovering new music.

My name is Andrew Thomas. I am a current Junior from Gainesville, Florida majoring in Neuroscience with minors in chemistry and global health. I'm involved in a number of campus organizations including GlobeMed and Blue Devils United (BDU). I also work in the Field Lab which focuses on exploring the more complex functions of the retina in a mouse model. Outside of class, I enjoy drawing and going to the gym. I'm excited to meet you this semester!

Hello! I’m Ben Succop. I’m a junior double majoring in Neuroscience and chemistry with the intent of pursuing an MD/Ph.D program after college. I grew up in the small town of Morganton, North Carolina, which is right at the foothills of the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. Some things I enjoy doing outside of school are water skiing, hiking, movies, Duke Basketball (I’m a line monitor!), and playing music as a percussionist for the wind symphony and symphony orchestra.

 Hello! I'm Erin Crumpler, a junior from Coppell, Texas (a small town about half an hour north of Dallas). I am an Earth and Ocean Sciences Major with a minor in Art History. I have always had an interest in geology, and my identical twin sister (who also attends Duke) and I share an enormous rock, mineral, and fossil collection (which I unfortunately could not bring with me to college). I am on the executive board for the Mu Kappa chapter of the Chi Omega Fraternity, and I am very involved in Club Tennis on campus. Whenever I have time, I love driving over to the Orange County Animal Shelter where I volunteer as a Cat Socializer.

My research interest lies in the thermodynamics of hyperpolarization catalysts for NMR spectroscopy. I’m Kathryn Silberstein, a Junior from Delray Beach, Florida! I’m majoring in Neuroscience and Global Health with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health. I’m one of the managing editors for The Chronicle, a tutor for GANO (Gente Aprendiendo Para Nuevas Oportunidades), and a peer responder for Peer For You. I also work in the DEED Lab, a neuroscience lab here at Duke that focuses on early experiences and the developing brain. In my free time, I love to run, binge watch New Girl and Grey’s Anatomy, and bake and cook!

I am majoring in Chemistry (currently attempting to get an Interdepartmental major approved between Chemistry and Public Policy), and am a member of the Women's Cross Country and Track Teams at Duke. I'm involved with the Catholic Center here, am a member of the Green Devils, and am on Magnolia Commons House Council. I love playing soccer (desperately trying to learn how to juggle), playing the piano, and going on late night dessert runs with friends.

When I am not in class, I am either conducting research in Dr. Matsunami’s lab, working at the OIT service desk in Perkins, volunteering with Alpha Phi Omega, or eating tiramisu with my friends! During the weekend, I enjoy eating at new restaurants in the triangle, hanging out with my friends, reading a book, watching Netflix or (most importantly) sleeping!
